IT'S ALIVE!!!!!

Yes, fanclub, I live. Finally, I have made it through to the Other Side of the Flu. I can walk and talk and breathe again. Thank you for your patience. "Thank you" to modern science for little blue capsules filled with many drugs for upper respiratory Ick, and specifically to the company which makes Aleve, my NSAID of choice. "Thank you " to mattress makers, and tissue manufacturers and town water supplies. "Thank you" to my immune system which kicked this bugs butt in a little over 48 hours.

I am feeling much, much better. Not QUITE Keen, but getting there by the hour...

Your Daily Dose of Cool Things:

Duct Tape Floor via Craftster.org

I would think that this is a temporary sort of thing...I can imagine that after a little use the edges would peel up, but perhaps if one put a coating of some sort over this it would suffice. At least, one could use this for a little-used area of a home, and with the addition of rugs, it might last for quite a while. At any length, it is totally cool. I am thinking you could carve out designs from one layer of tape revealing a lower layer then cover with a clear packing tape or something. This has me a-thinkin' (something previously unknown to me over the past two days).

I have had kitties from about the age of 10 until now. And, despite my inability to smell anything at all over the past few days, I know, for fact, that this stuff works wonders. I have been using it for a few months now, and while it is a bit pricey, you do change the litter less often and it is quite remarkable in it's ability to neutralize litterbox odors. A *must* for a kitty-owning apartment dweller.

Your Daily dose of Wicked-Good Food:

    Fiddlehead Ferns!!!

I harvested these on a walk yesterday, but you can generally find them in the produce section of your grocer around this time of year. Fiddlehead ferns are delightful, full of nutrients, and easy to prepare. They have a flavor that is somewhat similar to a combination of asparagus and broccoli. Simply rinse them with water to remove any dirt, trim them to about 2 inches and cook them in a little olive oil with garlic for a few minutes until tender. Very tasty, Totally Keen and, if you harvest yourself, FREE!. If harvesting yourself, be sure to only pick those fronds which are tightly closed. Once unfurled they become toxic to humans.
