Keen Things Thursday

"Sunset"

Walking dogs in the woods is one of my favorite ways to spend time. It is especially wonderful in the winter after a snow. There is just about nothing more fun to a dog, except maybe water. Snow is much more fun. And easier to clean up after, too. I love watching the animal prints, gaining a story from their shape and size. I think about the gait and how fast the animal was going. Today I saw lots of bunny tracks. Which got me to thinking about animal treats. You will understand why later on in this post.

Coming *back* from the 20 degree woods I wish I had some of THIS! How ingenious. Vodka. From Quinoa. Whoa!

Your Daily Dose of Inspiring Words:

We know that science and the arts can be allies. We need far more women in politics. We need a religious view that embraces nature and does not fear science; business leaders who know and accept ecological and spiritual limits; political leaders who have spent time working in schools, factories or farms and who still write poems. We need intellectual and academic leaders who have studied both history and ecology and like to dance and cook. We need poets and novelists who pay no attention to literary critics. But what we ultimately need most is human beings who love the world. - Gary Snyder

Your Daily Dose of Wicked-Good Food:

(I don't recall ever having a Rule about exactly WHOSE food I will talk about, eh?)

Dog Walker Biscuits!

1/2 cup milk
1 egg
2 spoons of peanut butter
a dash of water
a dash of salt
1 1/4 cup flour

Mix the egg, peanut butter, water, and the milk in to a large bowl.
Then pour the flour and salt in. Knead until smooth. I generally roll this out to a thin log and pinch bits off. Then I roll them into little balls. The truth of the matter is that unless you give a dog a HONKIN' bone, he really does not know or care how BIG the treat is. He is more interested in the Frequency of Offering. And, well, the Quality. Come to think of it, that is sorta like the way men think about women. Heh.

Place the balls of dough on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes, then turn off the heat and allow the biscuits to cool to room temp inside the oven.

Remember, dogs like to please you. Often. Heh.

Woof!
